Subtractive Synthesis

Subtractive synths work on the principle of using a wide-spectrum source and filtering out all the unneeded bits to shape it in to the desired sound. This can be done by any number of filters, but of course needs a good start sound to begin with. Oscillator banks and noise generators are often employed together to generate this.
