Bitcrusher

A bitcrusher simulates a reduction in the number of bits used to represent each sample. Fewer bits means a less accurate representation of dynamic range, and can gives signals a "gritty" sound.

Parameters

Bits: Sets the number of bits used to represent each sample.

For reference, A CD quality recording is 16 bits, and some vintage samplers (like the MPC60) recorded at 12 bits.
